Cognitive
The H2F Cognitive Domain will provide a class on how to adjust behaviors and the environment in order to promote higher quality sleep in both a garrison and field environment. Schedule the Sleep Optimization Class.
Nutrition
The H2F Registered Dietitian will provide a class that combines both general nutrition and performance nutrition to ensure knowledge on caloric and hydration needs. Schedule the Unit Nutrition Talk.
Injury Control
The highest number of injuries occur from running and rucking. The H2F Physical Therapist will provide a class on pose method running for mechanics and techniques that lower the risk of injury. Schedule the Run Clinic.
Classes
Multidisciplinary Weight Management Program
A series of mandatory educational sessions provided by a registered dietitian for individuals who are enrolled in ABCP. Soldiers must complete all four sessions. Session 1 is offered the first Wednesday of the month from 1130-1230. Sessions 2, 3, and 4 are offered on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesday of each month at the H2F Clinic.
Core Stability Class
A BN athletic trainer will take Soldiers through a series of exercises that trains core stability and enhances the ability to maintain a rigid, neutral spine while under load and performing functional activities. Soldiers will learn to train their core in all 3 planes of motion, improving the ability of their musculature to create 360 degrees of support around the spine. Walk-in every Tuesday from 0730-0800 at Frat Gym.
Shoulder Health Class
A BN athletic trainer will take Soldiers through a series of exercises to enhance shoulder and scapular stability, and to improve shoulder and thoracic mobility. Soldiers will learn how to properly engage and stabilize their shoulders, upper back, and scapulas to mitigate pain, poor technique, and lack of mobility/flexibility. Walk-in every Thursday from 0730-0800 at Frat Gym.
Sleep Optimization and Sleep for Injury Recovery
Soldiers with subpar sleep to include decreased quantity, quality, or difficulties falling or staying asleep. Soldiers on moderate to severe musculoskeletal (MSK) profiles should also consult with their H2F Cognitive Team to optimize sleep habits and routines to promote recovery. Every Tuesday from 1000-1100 at the H2F Clinic.
Unit Cognitive Talks
Education for mental and sleep readiness including but not limited to effective communication, stress management, anger management, goal setting and habit formation, and sleep optimization for garrison and austere environments. Other education on building resilience, character, social acuity, and cognitive skills may also be requested. Available upon request.
Ankle Stability Class
A BN athletic trainer will take Soldiers through a series of exercises aimed at increasing stability and motor control of the lower extremity and ankle joint. Soldiers will be educated on preventative measures they can take in their training to avoid ankle sprains and other related ankle injuries. Walk-in every Monday from 0730-0800 at Frat Gym.
Mobility Class
A BN athletic trainer will take Soldiers through a combination of self-myofascial release, stretching, and banded joint mobilizations aimed to optimize mobility in the main joints of the body. Soldiers will be educated on how to best treat mobility deficits and how to incorporate effective mobility techniques in their weekly routines. Walk-in Every Wednesday from 0730-0800 at Frat Gym.
Promotion Board Prep
A 3-part closed group will teach Soldiers skills to help stay calm under pressure and prepare them visually (uniform) & mentally for their upcoming promotion board board. Every 1st Thursday & 2nd Tuesday and Thursday of the month from 1300-1400 at the H2F Clinic.
Unit Nutrition Talks
Educational classes for a variety of nutrition related topics, including but not limited to general healthy eating patterns (Nutrition 101), performance nutrition, hydration, supplement safety, and meal prepping/planning. Availble upon request.
Run Clinic
Intro to pose method running. Aimed at educating on running mechanics/anatomy and specific techniques/drills to help train running form for injury prevention. Available upon request.
Movement Assessment
A series of six assessments that will test for mobility and/or stability deficits of various joints. Each test will be graded as green (optimal), yellow (needs some attention), amber (needs significant attention), or red (pain with movement needs to be addressed). Soldiers will walk away from this class with a better understanding of their own mobility and/or stability deficits and how specifically to address each deficiency. Available upon request.
Yoga
An occupational therapist lead yoga class with focuses in recovery, mobility, strength and stability at the platoon or company level. Available upon request.
